What is

REIKI

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan in the early 20th century.

The word “Reiki” is derived from Japanese words: “rei,” which means universal, and “ki,” which means life energy or vital force.

Reiki practitioners believe that there is a universal energy that flows through all living beings, and by harnessing and channelling this energy, they can promote healing, relaxation, and overall well-being.

> Origins: Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. Usui reportedly discovered the healing power of Reiki during a spiritual experience and then developed a system for others to learn and practice it.

> Principles: Reiki is based on the belief that the practitioner can channel universal life energy to the recipient through touch or by placing hands near the body. The energy is believed to flow through the practitioner’s palms and into the recipient, promoting healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

> Techniques: Reiki sessions typically involve the recipient lying down fully clothed while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or near various parts of the body. The practitioner may also use specific hand positions corresponding to energy centres (chakras) in the body.

> Benefits: Proponents of Reiki claim that it can promote relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate pain, accelerate healing, improve sleep, enhance emotional well-being, and boost the immune system. Reiki is considered a complementary therapy rather than a substitute for conventional medical treatment.

> Training and Certification: Reiki training typically consists of multiple levels, with each level focusing on specific techniques and symbols. There are generally three levels of Reiki training: First Degree (Reiki I), Second Degree (Reiki II), and Master/Teacher Level (Reiki III). Practitioners can become certified by completing training and receiving attunements from a Reiki Master.

> Integration with Conventional Medicine: While Reiki is often used as a stand-alone therapy, it is also sometimes integrated into conventional medical settings as a complementary treatment. Some hospitals and healthcare facilities offer Reiki sessions alongside other treatments to help patients manage pain, reduce anxiety, and promote relaxation.

Overall, Reiki is a holistic healing practice that focuses on balancing the body’s energy to promote health and well-being. While its efficacy is debated, many people find value in Reiki as a complementary therapy for relaxation and stress reduction.

It is important to understand that a holistic therapist does not claim to heal, cure, prescribe or diagnose illness or injuries.

You’ll find a short health/induction form needs to be completed before your first therapy session can commence.

Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical care to support overall health and relaxation.

What an absolutely rejuvenating experience! The reflexology was incredibly relaxing and left me feeling renewed and balanced. Claire was very attentive, focusing on areas of tension. I left feeling lighter, both physically and mentally. Highly recommended for anyone in need of a holistic treat and reset.

A chakra balance refers to the practice of aligning and harmonizing the body’s energy centres, known as chakras, to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In various spiritual and healing traditions, it is believed that the chakras are spinning wheels or vortexes of energy located along the central channel of the body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
